[GlobalNotice] Hi all. If you're using custom channel levels, please let us know. Apparently it's possible to reset all channels' levels with a single command, which ignores a channelname option if specified. 8)
00:06:19 [Morbus]
[[[Word does not accept file names longer than 31 characters for saving new files. However, you can open and save files that already have file names that are longer than 31 characters]]]
00:06:24 [Morbus]
Word cannot open TextEdit files that contain pictures. For files that contain pictures, TextEdit uses a variant of Rich Text Format (RTF) that Word does not support.
00:06:30 [lilo]
[GlobalNotice] As the person who made that goof, I can tell you that command is not going to stay around. ;)
00:08:03 [Morbus]

00:13:04 [AaronSw]
heh
00:15:24 [ElectricElf]
[GlobalNotice] Apparently there's some confusion. Just to clear things up, the command which reset all the levels is only available to services administrators. Not even regular opers/network admins have access to it. There are 13 people who can the RESETLEVELS command on this network :)

You might want to leave the levels standard this time around, though....particularly, turning off AUTOOP is highly recommended on Open Projects. Regardless, if you need help with fixing your levels, please drop by. Thanks.

15:36:33 [AaronSw]
hi there
15:36:40 [sbp]
Hi!
15:36:59 [AaronSw]
nice timing -- i just logged on
15:37:04 [sbp]
cool
15:37:54 [AaronSw]
I thought about my backup problem, and I realized the big thing that's catching up these backups is my HTTP archive.
15:38:12 [sbp]
you may as well just delete it :-)
15:38:16 [AaronSw]
No!
15:38:17 [AaronSw]
:-)
15:38:26 [sbp]
I'm suprised that you don't move it over to CDR when it gets to 700MB
15:38:29 [AaronSw]
So I think I will compress it and send it off to the other machine by itself.
15:38:45 [AaronSw]
Which I tried to do last night, but cause my machine to freeze for the first time I can remember.
15:38:46 [sbp]
good idea
15:39:03 [sbp]
ugh, you and that machine! what are you doing to it?!
15:39:10 [AaronSw]
So now I'm recursively applying my idea, and shipping out smaller portions of the HTTTP archive.
15:39:18 [sbp]
:-)
15:39:50 [AaronSw]
The problem is it that it's something like a Zipf distribution... maybe even more scewed.
15:39:54 [AaronSw]
err skewed.
15:39:54 [sbp]
well, you're going to have to siphon off some of the material at some point, surely?
15:40:02 [AaronSw]
why?
15:40:20 [sbp]
brb
15:40:32 [AaronSw]
I'm deleting pointless stuff like ad banners, Internet Radio, and QuickTime mvoies
15:40:44 [AaronSw]
but other than those I think I should be OK.
15:42:22 [AaronSw]
I mean, even the top 2 directories only take up 142MB/ ?> 2GB
15:42:48 [AaronSw]
after that, you get down to 28MB, then 19, 16, 15, 14, 13, etc.
15:42:59 [sbp]
well, I guess that's not so bad
15:43:55 [AaronSw]
well it sucks for this project...
15:44:13 [sbp]
project?
15:44:14 [AaronSw]
Aha, I forgot to see how much Google was using...
15:45:22 [AaronSw]
I have 88 copies of the google logo
15:46:45 [sbp]
heh, heh
15:47:04 [AaronSw]
that's surprisingly small considering...
15:47:14 [AaronSw]
I've archive 2812 different searches
15:47:38 [AaronSw]
but blast it, I can't delete them!
15:47:44 [sbp]
oh, happy thanksgiving for real, this time
15:48:03 [AaronSw]
heh, thanks

15:48:26 [AaronSw]
Heh
15:48:49 [AaronSw]
where's deltab?
15:48:56 [AaronSw]
maybe kenm can help....
15:49:00 [AaronSw]
I need to know how to solve this:
