Yet Another RSS FAQ

Julian Bond writes "I've embarked on building yet another RSS FAQ, loosely based on all the
other RSS FAQs. This one has a subtle difference though. Through the magic of Drupal it's got a /. style comment and submission system so anyone with the
time can help build and maintain it." Read more and contribute at http://www.voidstar.com/rssfaq.

Meerkat Adds Support for Dublin Core

Meerkat, the O'Reilly Network's syndicator, now displays Dublin Core metadata in feeds. (Example, RSS, N3). The new version of the website also allows you to do searches based on Dublin Core metadata. Getting everyone to support new modules is often an chicken-and-egg problem, but we're glad Meerkat has taken the first step.

Dave Winer has announced RSS 0.92 a forwards-compatible modification to RSS 0.91 to support new software from UserLand called "My.UserLand On the Desktop".

RSS 0.92 makes the language element optional and introduces some new elements:

cloud describes a system for subscribing to updates of the RSS file
enclosure describes a large external file to be sent with the RSS file

As Dave has said he is "not doing this as part of a working group, or in collaboration with anyone else."

RSS 1.0 Released!

At long last and with much rejoicing, RSS 1.0 is finally released. The vote passed unanimously with 9 members of the WG (and one non-member) voting. Strangely enough, the message that announced the results of the vote was exactly message 1300. It was followed by a message from Rael Dornfest, the WG Chair, recapping the 4-month process that it took the spec to finally be published.
News of the release has been covered on XMLhack. Rael also posted a note to his blog. In addition, O'Reilly has issued a press release.
