Give it up for Luke, Talli and Musea! 01:45:03 WoohoO! 01:45:08 moo? 01:45:16 is it appropriate to say that? 01:45:29 can someone plesae explain to me what the hell moo means anyway? 01:45:30 It'd be sorta cool if you could make some of the previous revisions public 01:45:35 talli: You only "moo" when you arrive at the channel :) 01:45:39 (or return) 01:45:39 oh, ok 01:45:45 sorry. oom 01:45:52 i just sucked my "moo" back 01:47:06 rbm: we will definitely check ETP into CVS, but luke had to run because he's moving into a new house tomorrow. 01:47:39 so i don't know what the protocal is, but i think don might say something about that. is there a way to stick it in there without luke? 01:52:30 usually talk to Don. Do you want to keep ETP into the OACS4 tree? Or just the APM or a link? 01:55:25 i think that's up to luke. 01:55:50 i will ping don about it and tell him it's up to luke, but i imagine he'll want it in the tree with everything else. 01:56:03 but i'm not sure he's had time to think about it. 01:56:21 i'll email don and cc luke on it. i can't imagine why he wouldn't want it in the tree 01:59:02 it might be better to keep it your own tree, where you have more control. And then put the .apm in the soon-to-come acs-repository on openacs.org 02:11:39 ok 02:11:42 i emailed don 02:11:47 we'll see what he says 02:56:25 davb has joined #openacs 03:03:07 talli: I think a way to specify templates from the web UI would be nice. 03:03:35 Oh yeah, and don't display links to stuff like "site map" if I can't go there. 03:06:34 * davb 's windows system is unstable again... :< 03:07:03 hey 03:07:21 you should post that stuff 03:07:24 to the bboards 03:07:58 Oh. Okay. No problem. Good idea. 03:07:58 well, this is a demo, so we probably can make that stuff live. 03:08:14 Sure. That was just off the top of my head. 03:08:20 i tried to convince luke not to make this a 1.0 release, because it's not totally there. 03:08:34 like image upload hasn't been enabled 03:08:39 although that shuoldn't be too hard. 03:08:43 Hey, did you see the aD stuff :)? 03:08:49 which aD stuff? 03:08:53 the CMS they built? 03:08:53 All of it. 03:09:05 Those numbers were way over 1.0 03:09:10 oh, right :) 03:09:20 yeah, well, luke *did* work at aD... 03:09:33 no, he just said that when he adds a bunch more he'll call it 1.1 03:09:36 ... and he claims not to have understood the CMS. 03:09:39 and then 2.0 03:09:59 yeah, luke's not understand means that he had to think more than 2 seconds about it. 03:10:25 but roberto has been working on porting the whole CMS system, and he says that he hasn't really figured it out either 03:10:53 if roberto and luke can't figure it out, then thing probably ain't that good. 03:10:54 i tried to understand it before porting blogspace and found it made too many assumptions that undermined what i wanted to do 03:10:59 The CMS is way to complicated for someone who just wants to put a page up there. 03:11:20 well, part of the problem with the CMS is that it puts too much out there. 03:11:27 "metadata" and such. 03:12:02 I think they just tried to put in every "feature" of the systems they aspired to compete with. 03:12:21 and they built it for engineers 03:12:29 who else would use frames? 03:12:40 frames are the OOP of HTML. 03:12:45 I don't know any engineers that will use frames. 03:13:06 do I? 03:13:10 then you don't know anyone at aD 03:13:29 http://developer.arsdigita.com/acs-java/doc/api 03:13:29 E: http://developer.arsdigita.com/acs-java/doc/api from talli 03:14:02 E: ACS Java APIs, probably very complete and effective, but who's going to remember all these classes? 03:14:03 commented item E 03:14:51 apropos of java API's, can anyone recommend a good pair of headphones? 03:26:04 davb has quit 03:48:56 talli has quit 04:01:59 vinod has quit 06:21:59 abbaJ has quit 08:03:34 til has joined #openacs 10:02:10 ola has joined #openacs 11:24:53 markd has joined #openacs 12:03:20 AaronSw has quit 12:03:39 AaronSw has joined #openacs 12:21:57 ola has quit 12:25:17 ola has joined #openacs 12:33:27 AaronSw has quit 12:39:46 markd has quit 12:42:18 ola has quit 12:51:36 davb has joined #openacs 12:53:11 AaronSw has joined #openacs 13:00:56 AaronSw has quit 13:46:47 davb has quit 13:57:59 docwolf has joined #openacs 14:44:22 markd has joined #openacs 14:46:13 ola has joined #openacs 16:18:59 akornick has joined #openacs 16:37:08 shagster has quit 16:37:43 shagster has joined #openacs 17:05:06 * rbm looks around for jmarsden 17:05:16 argh. he's not around. 17:05:21 hey, loggy is back. 17:43:21 hi all 17:44:25 hi docwolf 17:46:32 abbaJ has joined #openacs 17:53:13 jgramlich has joined #openacs 17:53:17 hello 17:58:39 yo 18:00:57 howdy 18:14:05 ah...hello... 18:14:25 are there instructions for installing oacs from source? 18:15:27 jgramlich: Yes. Check out openacs.org/4 (the porting guide) 18:16:36 is it any different for 3.2? 18:19:57 Yes. Very different. 18:20:14 For 3.2, read the Installation Guide: openacs.org/doc/openacs 18:20:46 when I do a gmake (i'm on freebsd) i get "No rule to make target '/usr/home/piocon/sources/aolserver-3.4//include/Makefile.global'" 18:21:36 Oh. You want AOLserver. Then read the "Simple AOLserver Installation Guide" on the same URL I mentioned above 18:22:39 hmmm...come to think of it...that's not right...i got aolserver to install already... 18:22:54 i wonder why the makefile is doing that nonsense... 18:24:22 i think i moved the wrong source directory to /web/piocon 18:24:29 piocon being the name of my server... 18:30:08 shagster has quit 18:30:39 shagster has joined #openacs 18:32:41 markd has quit 18:51:26 AaronSw has joined #openacs 19:12:33 akornick has quit 19:13:04 akornick has joined #openacs 19:13:28 akornick has quit 19:51:57 AaronSw has quit 19:55:52 AaronSw has joined #openacs 20:36:10 anyone here? 20:42:56 * AaronSw is... sorta 20:43:02 yo 20:43:21 i've got an apache question, if anyone would like to dare (ducking) 20:45:15 throw it out and see what happens 20:45:25 I can't get .htaccess to work with apache... 20:45:39 on this server at least (1.3.14, i think..) 20:45:55 it is interesting 20:45:59 i can create the .htpasswd file 20:46:04 and the .htaccess file 20:46:09 but it won't allow me to authenticate 20:48:43 rbm has quit 20:49:11 did you create them right? ;) 20:49:21 i think so ;-) 20:50:29 it's like it's not seeing the .htpasswd file 20:58:17 permissions? 20:59:10 All UNIX problems are of three types: code is bad, file is bad, or permissions. ;) 20:59:48 nope.. just set it to the most permissive 20:59:51 and it still can't see it 21:00:16 hmmph 21:09:19 ola has quit 21:15:36 davb has joined #openacs 21:25:53 vinod has joined #openacs 21:43:02 gilbertw has joined #openacs 22:08:05 til has quit 22:25:31 Hello. 22:26:18 docwolf. For apache, i think you need to set something in the httpd.conf file to make it look in there. 22:31:16 look for AllowOverride Allow and Limit directives. They seem to have something to do with it. I haven't actually ever used .htaccess though. 22:31:34 I think .htaccess overrides httpd.conf locally 22:32:18 Those settings tell whether or not the server should look at htaccess and what to do with it I think. 22:32:36 Also there is a setting for which filename is the htaccess file. 22:33:20 * davb is not an Apache expert. I have it serving two static sites and it seems to work. 23:08:51 vinod has quit 23:31:24 vinod has joined #openacs
